1) I feel closer to God when I am outside and can view His beautiful world.
2) It calms my nerves. Hiking is good for my soul. Lol! I feel like I can think more clearly.
3) Like life, everything is much more rewarding when you have to work for the reward. The reward being the view, landmark, etc.
4) Hiking makes for great dates and fun memories. I love hiking with Jaren. We have so much fun together laughing and talking (mostly on the way down, sometimes we are too tired to talk hiking up).
5) I love to take pictures and hiking provides many ample opportunities. Nature is beautiful!
While we were at Bear Lake (June 14th) we decided to hike to Bloomington Lake. Jaren proposed to me here August 10, 2008. It's a short and sweet, gorgeous hike. Pictures...
On Independence Day we went to Snow Basin Resort! We rode the gondola to the top of the mountain, hike to the very top, and then hiked the whole way down. It was a long hike, but so pretty! Gus came too, and it was a little too much for him. Jaren had to carry him part of the way because he was so worn out! (We now only take him on shorter, more shaded hikes.) Here are some pictures...
July 11th we hiked Ensign Peak. This was one of my favorites! It provides an amazing view at the end and has a lot of Mormon history behind it! I didn't know Ensign Peak was so historical, and we had fun learning about it! Joseph Smith and Brigham Young saw Ensign Peak in a vision. When the Saints arrived to Salt Lake a few of them climbed the peak and gathered in prayer. So cool!
July 15th we hiked Frary Peak, the tallest point on Antelope Island. We did not bring Gus for this one, and it's a good thing too! This hike was hard- very steep, entirely uphill, and hot as can be! (No shade ever!) But the view at the end was spectacular! I actually really enjoyed this hike, despite what I said above. You are hiking by the Salt Lake the entire time and the scenery is great!
On Pioneer Day our next hike was in the morning to Nevada Viewpoint on the Indian Trail (in Ogden). Jaren's grandpa used to take him on part of this trail when he was little. We brought Gus along, and he had the time of his life!
On July 26th we hiked in the evening to Waterfall Canyon in Ogden. Gus came along for this one. The waterfall was pretty, but more like a water-trickle so late in the Summer. While hiking back down we had a gorgeous sunset-I just loved it!
On Thursday, July 30th, Emily and I hiked Adams Canyon! We had so much fun talking and laughing!
